After graduating from South China University of Technology in 2011, I started my career with ExxonMobil Chemical as a Sales Assistant for Specialty Elastomer Business. I’ve enjoyed a unique working experience with the company that includes challenges and learning opportunities.

From the very beginning, we are offered a systematic training program and challenging assignments at the same time. ExxonMobil spend a lot of resources on training us from fresh graduates to professionals. Colleagues are supportive in helping us to adapt to our new work environment. This positive learning and working environment allows me to operate my work with both degrees of freedom and constructive guidelines.

As a sales assistant, I worked externally with customers and internally with our sales team. It was a great opportunity to understand our business and company culture. From dealing with new business scenarios every day, I benefit from solving various tough problems. With this experience, I continuously gained and improved knowledge about our products, technology and market. Additionally, I developed a network with different functions, which enabled me to work more effectively in my sales assistant job and future assignments.

This year in May, I was given an opportunity to complete a project of market assessment in the United States. I received many advices on both project and culture from my US colleagues during these 5 weeks. I also spent some time in the Chicago Thin Wall Packaging conference, and had the chance to work with Polypropylene marketing and US sales developers. This cross-function and real market exposure offered me a chance to further develop my commercial capabilities and skills.

Coming along with my one year anniversary with ExxonMobil, I’m taking a new role as Market Developer for the same business line. I will have more chances to work globally with colleagues from sales, marketing, and technology. I truly enjoy observing myself grow in different dimensions everyday with ExxonMobil. It was a great choice to join ExxonMobil and I’m eager to learn more every day!

Two years ago, I graduated from East China University of Science and Technology with a Master’s degree in Chemical Technology. I appreciate the opportunity to join ExxonMobil Chemical, one of the leading chemical companies in the world. My initial assignment was a Polypropylene Sales Engineer covering East/North China area, where my bright and rewarding career started.

For new campus hires, training is a critical element for growth. EMC offered me systematic training not only in class room settings but also on-job shadowing conducted by experienced colleagues. Through these training opportunities, I broadened business knowledge and strengthened my commercial skills. Being a sales person, the most challenging task is to build mutual trust with customers. I spent a lot of time interacting with customers, listening to their opinions, handling their feedback and providing value-added services. Finally I was highly recognized by most customers due to my sincere characteristics and professional business operations. At the same time, my maturity and confidence level improved as well.

In Apr 2012, I relocated from Shanghai to Guangzhou for a new assignment as a Marketing Developer responsible for the Asia Pacific Automotive Segment. The new challenge for me was how to quickly settle down in a new environment while picking up a new job. ExxonMobil provided me very strong support for my relocation, such as finding an apartment, moving personal belongings, and facilitating my wife’s relocation to join me in Guangzhou. Meanwhile my boss provided many advices in how to grow fast in a marketing position that helped me to foster a smooth transition.

Aside from daily work, ExxonMobil also has many platforms for employees to show their talent in social activities, support in charity events, robustness in sports competition, and enthusiasm in community services. ExxonMobil as a company is like a big family with strong social citizenship responsibilities.

ExxonMobil is a fantastic company that can offer you not only a job only but also a career with memorable challenges and valuable returns. Please come and join us.

I joined ExxonMobil Chemical Shanghai Office in July 2010 after graduating from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a bachelor degree in Bioengineering. The past two years I experienced growing responsibilities from three challenging positions in ExxonMobil.

Serving initially as a Sales Assistant for Specialty Elastomer Business (SEB), apart from learning basic business models, I was also encouraged to take initiatives in streamlining the current operation process to improve business efficiency and effectiveness. As a freshman at ExxonMobil, I benefited from the well-established mentor program, diversified training sessions, as well as working with intelligent professionals in my working environment. Moreover, ExxonMobil helps new hires to build up network of contacts through communities such as alumni networks and recreation clubs for me to better adapt to a large corporation.

Nine months later, I was moved to become the Asia Pacific Demand Planner for SEB, which required more extensive and in-depth understanding of the business. I was challenged professionally and personally to coordinate between sales and supply chain with an all-embracing perspective. Four months later, I was then dispatched to a short-term assignment in the United States for a one-month mini-project. With the help of people from different functions and divisions, I learned how to initiate a project with paying attention to every single aspect and then combining them together to formulate a whole picture. I also appreciated the opportunities to communicate with senior management in the headquarters, who provided me insights about our business.

Very recently, I was rotated into my third position as a Supply Operation Planner. Relocated from Shanghai to Singapore, I have been dealing with logistic issues concerning our new plant in Singapore. This assignment allows me to experience living in a different country and working in an operational work environment.

I am very glad I made the decision to join ExxonMobil where I have grown tremendously. I truly enjoy the variety of responsibilities and interactions with a wide range of people in an international working environment. It makes every day of my professional life all the more exciting!

I entered my career journey with ExxonMobil Chemical four summers ago after the graduating from Zhejiang University with a master’s degree in Material Science and Engineering. I was excited to become part of this top notch multi-national corporation, and have been even more pleasantly surprised by the wonderful career opportunities that ExxonMobil provides with a great emphasis on work and family balance.
Soon after I started on my first assignment as a product and Application Technology Engineer at Polyolefin Business, I had the opportunity to present at an internal ExxonMobil symposium that attracted the best talent from around the world. I never anticipated being introduced to many subject experts with significant work experience in ExxonMobil Chemical Research Center, not to mention our Vice Presidents! It was an exciting opportunity, and thanks to the methodical training system within the company, I was able to rise to the occasion and shine in this situation. During the two years with ExxonMobil, I have completed six weeks of systematic and intense basic training from Senior Technical Advisors in Shanghai, one month of training at US Technology Center in Baytown, the United States, as well as three months of job shadowing visits and two weeks of on-site training in Europe. All of these learning opportunities helped me to quickly advance and become a well-qualified technical professional.
In Nov 2010, I received the job rotation to Global Specialty Polymers Technology as a Technology Engineer. In this position, I broadened my knowledge on our products in Specialty Elastomer Business, multifarious industries and a variety of applications. Furthermore, I started to take the Global Technology Lead role for a leading product since Jan 2012. This position provides me with new knowledge and new responsibilities that are very valuable and help me to grow further on my career path.
It is indeed a challenge for everyone to become successful in a new business environment including in the area of Technology. Being able to handle tough situations and cultivate internal and external relationships are keys to success. ExxonMobil provides various training resources to all employees and helps them to develop specific competencies and skills.
Besides professional development, ExxonMobil also offers various opportunities for community involvement, which is personally very important and rewarding to me. ExxonMobil has supported a large number of community and environmental programs in Shanghai, Beijing and Qingdao. I was grateful to participate as a volunteer teacher for children of migrant workers imparting basic knowledge on international trade. Through volunteering events like this, I am able to make contributions back to the society, especially to those who have not had the level of opportunities as I have in my life.
I invite you to join us … Grow with ExxonMobil, win the river of life!

Career is a journey. The first four years with ExxonMobil has been greatly fascinating for me, and it is just a start.
Right after graduating from Tsinghua University with a Master Degree of Polymer Science, I was honored to join the big ExxonMobil family in 2008. The very first assignment for me is Polyethylene (PE) Marketing Assistant. My primary task was to provide data support to our Regional PE Market Development team. Dealing with data is not always fun, and the key is about how much insights and conclusions you could draw from the data. Being a regional contact, the inherent nature of this role gave me opportunities to understand business strategies, establish foundation of professionalism and individual effectiveness and interact with people around the globe.
In Feb. of 2009, I was assigned as PE Market Development Planner working in the same regional Market Development team. It was a thorough change of my working scope. With Singapore Parallel Train Project on the horizon, the foremost objective of my role was to set up strategic directions for the entire market facing organization in a specific market segment to promote our value added products and shape the market. In the previous job, I was supporting a few Market Planners but now I owned the strategic project. How exciting could it be?
One of ExxonMobil’s core business strategies is the continuous investment on building technology leadership. During summer of 2010, I was presented an opportunity to experience ExxonMobil’s technology strength by becoming North & South China Polyethylene Customer Development Technology Team Lead. Besides the important component of leadership role in this job, what is also conducive for me was to understand the process of how ExxonMobil establishes technology leadership, how we convert it to something meaningful to provide values to our customers, and how we work into details to solve various issues our customers are facing. The longer I was at that job, the more I realized the criticality of good understanding the data behind the scene for us to make crucial business decisions.
A little more than a year later, the company offered me my first Supervisor job. Interestingly again, I am still in the same team – PE Technology. The significant difference of this job is to manage, coach, and develop employees to their full potential as opposed to only looking after myself. Taking care of around 15 people’s development for a certain period of time is a great honor and an important responsibility. If I need to pick only one among the hundreds of skill sets required to do well in this job, it would definitely be the sincere respect I should give to all my team members from the bottom of my heart. It enables me to genuinely think on their behalf and look for every single developmental opportunity for all of them.
4 years, 4 jobs. Fascinating story continues. Everybody’s fascinating stories continue at ExxonMobil.

I joined ExxonMobil in July 2010 after graduating from Sun Yet-Sen University with master degree in Chemistry. Starting my first assignment as a Sales Engineer, I was responsible for sales development in Shenzhen and Jiangxi areas. It was a great challenge for a new hire but it also provided me an excellent opportunity to develop my negotiation and commercial capabilities and skills. I was glad to see that the customers appreciated our products’ values that I brought to them.
1 year and 8 months later, I got my second assignment in Manufacturing, as a Process Engineer in South China Ester Plant. In this position, I am responsible for monitoring the production process and troubleshooting in the plant. Additionally, with the help of the technical advisors worldwide, I am challenged to initiate projects which focus on lower energy utilization and less waste disposal. This assignment is very much valuable to me because it improves my problem solving and decision making skills, as well as providing me new knowledge in a manufacturing setting.
Through these career development opportunities in ExxonMobil, I have climbed a steep learning curve from a fresh campus hire to an effective contributor. I also enjoy working in ExxonMobil because of its open environment where you can get a lot of coaching and support from management, mentors and colleagues. If you are ready to explore a challenge but fruitful career, welcome to join us!

I graduated from Fudan University with a bachelor degree of Polymer Science and joined ExxonMobil Chemical in July 2005. Starting from the first day, 7 years with 5 positions in 3 business units, it has always been an exciting journey for me to discover, inspire and develop myself with ExxonMobil.
I started as a Customer Service Professional in Global Customer Service. This first job provided me, as a fresh graduate, opportunities to learn the system and disciplined processes to support a global business, as well as basic skills of problem solving and communication.
After one year and half, I became a Polyethylene (PE) Sales Engineer. Despite the challenging volatile market environment, I enjoyed those days interacting with customers, introducing our premium products and solutions, and participating trials with technology colleagues. It also gave me valuable experience to execute business plans, learn products technology and manage different situations.
In 2009, I moved to Specialty Elastomer Business as the Asia Regional Sales Planner. This was an exciting role to be involved in setting up business plans, monitoring performance and optimizing process for an entire regional business with broad exposure and global interaction. It also developed my strategic view and analytical skills in daily work. More excitingly, this was my 1st supervisor job, leading a regional sales support team with members from 3 countries. Transferring from an individual contributor to a supervisor brought me many challenges. With leadership training courses, supervisor network sharing and practices from the job, I learned to work through the team, coach and develop competencies of the young talents.
In late 2010, coincident with relocating to the newly-established Shanghai Technology Center, I got another amazing assignment in Polyolefins Technology as China Polypropylene (PP) Product Technology Supervisor. This assignment brought me more opportunities to grow in another dimension beyond commercial roles. Thanks for the comprehensive technology training program and all the help from my team members, I could quickly shift into my new responsibilities with new knowledge of PP products and applications.
Challenges & opportunities never end in ExxonMobil. Since this February, I started my current assignment that brought me back to PE business after three years – the China PE Market Development Supervisor. Having experienced sales and technology assignments, I’m very excited with this new job in marketing to develop the business segment strategy and grow premium products to support our Singapore plant startup, with all the knowledge and skills accumulated from my previous assignments.
It has been a fabulous 7-years journey with ExxonMobil, as ExxonMobil never stops offering me career development and opportunities as well as new challenges. I was pushed and motivated to grow and continue to discover myself every day. ExxonMobil is where a broad platform has been established for all of us to learn and experience. If you do like challenges, please come and join us!

I graduated from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Accounting, and then joined ExxonMobil as Financial Analyst. I still remember the first day when I came into the office, my buddy bought me breakfast and introduced me to everyone in our department. The safe, healthy, friendly atmosphere here deeply impressed me and relieved my stress of being a freshman. It was a good start, but not as good as the journey I went through during the past three years.

I began my career as bank accounting analyst in the general accounting team. To me the assignment was a perfect starting point. It not only helped me to learn the fundamental knowledge of our department, but also prompted me to improve my communication skills. I expanded my vision from accounting to various different aspects, such as procurement, supply & distribution, human resources, etc. In the following year, I was transferred to the financial accounting team as inventory analyst. My logical thinking skill and business acumen were strengthened a lot. I took a site visit to Hong Kong in the winter. It was a very exciting experience because all your imagination about the oil terminal suddenly became real. From that moment I felt all my calculations and analysis of numbers turn into real business. After two years, I got my third assignment as financial reporting analyst of Fujian project. I cherish this opportunity because it offers me exposure to both the downstream and chemical businesses. Also, the position requires solid knowledge of both US GAAP and local accounting standards, which is a big challenge for me. I need to learn fast and react immediately to various kinds of situations. My soft skills and technical skills have developed quickly in this assignment.

Look back to the experience I’ve had in ExxonMobil, I feel lucky to have the chance to work here. I grew up to be a professional, step by step. If you are curious about the energy industry, come on and join us! You’ll never regret.

I graduated from Fudan University in 2009, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After my graduation, I started my career with ExxonMobil as a financial analyst. During my three years with ExxonMobil, I grew from a freshman to a professional. I always hold the confidence that I have made the right decision to join this great company.

I am really impressed by the long-term commitment that ExxonMobil promises. I have gained great opportunities to have four assignment rotations within the Finance organization, from financial reporting, to bank accounting and inter-company accounting in Corporate Accounting Services, and now I am a stewardship & analysis earnings analyst in Business Analysis & Reporting. ExxonMobil has provided me with good exposure in different roles at an early stage, to broaden my horizon and enhance my accounting knowledge step by step. My current assignment has given me a brand new platform to understand how ExxonMobil runs its business and operates, gaining the ability to understand, interpret and apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques in creating statistical summaries and graphical representations of business data. My system and PC skills have been further developed by utilizing sophisticated spreadsheets and problem solving tools to interpret data. In addition, I have benefited from comprehensive training provided by ExxonMobil such as new employee orientation, individual effectiveness etc. I am able to put what I have learnt into practice.

ExxonMobil is also a very people-oriented company. The comprehensive safety program and the strong safety sense of our employees impressed me a lot when I joined the company. The first orientation I received here was the safety briefing on the office evacuation plan in case of emergency. Besides, I was assigned with a good Buddy who helped me a lot to get adapted to the new environment quickly. In the next year, I became a Buddy myself for the next batch of campus hire to pass on this best practice. Meanwhile, I do appreciate all the excellent colleagues I am working with. Without their input, I would not have improved over time.

Taking into account the good new hire assimilation and sound career development in ExxonMobil, I have made progress steadily. What is more, the company provides me with a sense of belonging. This is a wonderful starting point to develop finance and accounting career in a great company. If you are looking for the same, welcome to join us!

With ExxonMobil since July 19, 2010

I joined ExxonMobil right after my graduation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2010 as a campus hire. After two years with ExxonMobil, I am convinced that what ExxonMobil offered is far more than a job, but a wonderful long term career.

During these two years, I had three job rotations in Corporate Accounting Services. My first position is Banking Analyst, General Accounting, responsible for whole PRC bank accounting and process improvement. After one year, I moved to the Financial Accounting and Reporting Team as a multi-task analyst for General Ledger, Inventory Valuation and Reporting for HK Chemical Affiliates. In March 2012, I began a new assignment for PRC Chemical Financial Reporting. I learned a lot and benefited tremendously from the exposure to the different positions and progressed step by step through them. I got the chance to coordinate with colleagues from other functions and review the process again to identify areas for improvement and initiate problem solving. It not only helped me to pick up accounting knowledge quickly but also provided the chance to understand other functions’ processes. I am grateful that ExxonMobil has built my capability in critical thinking, seeking out improvement areas and taking the initiative to implement process improvements at an early stage of my career development. I am interested to be involved in process optimization projects and to take up the challenge of improving the quality of operations.

Every work accomplishment is recognized by our management and I was given the chance to present to senior management. Not every big company would offer the chance to a young employee like me to have the exposure to senior level management. But ExxonMobil does.

ExxonMobil is a multinational company and provides various opportunities for us to interface with colleagues in other sites through the global network. I treasure the chance to participate in such networks as it provides me a platform to learn from other talented people around the world and develop my communication skills.

ExxonMobil will always push us ahead by providing us new assignments. Apart from my main job, I was nominated to be the lead of a committee which rolls out the office safety system. This task was a big challenge to me as I was a project leader for the first time. However, by taking on the challenge with an open mind, I now know how to manage a project and lead a team.

ExxonMobil really puts emphasis on the career development of our campus hires. There are opportunities to rotate not only within CAS but also to the other PRC Finance functions, even to a short-term overseas assignment. Management is giving us more exposure to various opportunities as well as challenges to help us grow in ExxonMobil. I really appreciate the challenges where I need to stretch myself in order to accomplish the tasks. Such challenges allow me to achieve more than what I thought I could.

ExxonMobil is a great place to start a career, has great people to work with, and offers great opportunities to grow fast. I am looking forward to seeing you join ExxonMobil and making progress together with ExxonMobil!
