I joined Colgate-Palmolive China in 2001 as a marketing trainee. After spending time in both Sales and Marketing, I moved to Colgate-Palmolive Hong Kong Marketing department in 2003 for a one year short-term assignment. I later held various positions with increasing responsibility before being promoted to Senior Brand manager in 2006. Then I relocated to Thailand in 2007 to work in Asia Division Marketing Oral Care group, managing projects at a regional level. In 2008 I was promoted to Category Manager and moved to US headquarter based in New York to join Global Marketing responsible for toothbrush innovation, after which I relocated to CP-Hong Kong as Marketing Manager in 2010, managing Home care and Personal care business before I returned to CP-China in early 2012 as Associated Marketing Director. In 2015 I was promoted to General Manager for CP-Singapore, responsible for driving the sales growth and market share leadership for all categories in Singapore. I enjoy working in Colgate which stimulates my career by providing various training and growth opportunities. He was ambitious, energetic and could not wait to jump into the real business. All he knew was he had to excel to succeed. Then he started his career with his first assignment to Marketing Department of Hong Kong Subsidiary. He was so excited because that was a totally new way of both working and living. Every day he tried his best to understand and learn despite all challenges. 8 months later the efforts had paid of- a new assignment opportunity to Greater Asia Division approached- He then expanded his working experience from Oral Care further to Personal Care. Besides, he was also able to approach and learn from senior Colgate people. That had been very beneficial to him as a marketing professional. 3 months later another opportunity knocked at the door. He was assigned to Harbin in Heilongjiang Province as a Customer Development Manager (Sales Manager). He didn’t even check the weather before flying directly from the southernmost part of China to the northernmost of the country. Again, the new environment and the new assignment were so challenging and he never understood the Chinese consumers and the basic operation of the company so well, because he had never been “on the ground”. This experience in the field had built strong foundation for his growth. 8 months later he was back to Marketing Department in Guangzhou and experienced through a series of positions managing different brands with increasing responsibilities. Till September 2010, when he then had another opportunity to go beyond China and further broaden his horizons. He was assigned to Greater Asia Division and spent 9 months in Bangkok, during which he has experienced more subsidiaries and markets including US, Thailand and India, before returning to China Marketing and then Customer Marketing. Now I return to Marketing and be appointed as the Marketing Manager of Toothbrush & Mouthwash. In this new role, I will assume leadership of Greater China Toothbrush & Mouthwash brand management including the mainland China & Hongkong business and also the Sanxiao brand. Looking back, he has had a great journey in the Colgate family which is very caring and dedicated to talent development. He has now grown from a Marketing Trainee to a Category Manager. He feels fortunate that he has made the right choice thus decides to pass his story down to more young gifted talents like each of you by sharing his experience in this article. Time flies, in July 2001 I joined Colgate-Palmolive China as a Customer Development Trainee. As we all know Colgate is a truly global company, we can find our products almost everywhere. I joined Colgate-Palmolive in 2001 as a Customer Development trainee, Colgate has given me great opportunities in different functions and regions which not only helped me to gain experience in Customer Development and marketing, but also broadened my views and strengthened my business sense and strategic thinking. My rotation in Marketing and National Customer Marketing played a vital role in facilitating my learning in brand management and project management. In 2004, I was promoted to be the Regional Customer Marketing Manager in the West Region. In 2005, I was further promoted to be the Business Manager of Northwest Direct-Trade. In 2007, I was in charge of Beijing Direct Trade business and led my team to build Colgate Leadership of Toothpaste, and the dominant position in Toothbrush (45% Share of market) in 2008. In 2009, I got a short-term assignment in Global Customer Marketing and worked in New York. This short-term assignment was really a great journey which helps me to understand how business runs in developed country and how diversify Colgate Palmolive is. For example, I worked in Global Customer Development, where we have Colombian, Argentinean, American, Italian, Indian, and Chinese. After my short-term-assignment, I was promoted to be the Regional Director of North Direct Trade. After one year, I was promoted to be In-store Management Director in 2011 and lead the national In-store Management team to provide the ideal 5P in all retail environment. In 2012, I was assigned to be the Team Leader of Project Silk Road. Now, I am the Team Leader of National Customer Team. I am really enjoying my fast growth in Colgate and I believe you would feel the same way! |

The year 2010 witnessed an important turning point of my life. After obtaining a Master’s degree from Warwick Business School in the UK, I officially kicked start my career life with Colgate-Palmolive China Company as a Customer Development Trainee. The Trainee Program Colgate offered has given me a valuable chance to rotate in various functions in different locations. I have spent time in Marketing Department, Field Sales, Shopper Development as well as National Customer Marketing team. The rotation experience enabled me to get an initial sense of the functions and operation processes of different departments, and started to learn to understand some business decisions from various perspectives. Shortly after the rotation, I joined a global corporate project called “Project Silk Road” in 2011. During the project, I was lucky enough to worked closely everyday with senior management and renowned consultants from the US, the UK, India and Latin America. I was able to absorb the essence of the industry from those experts and great minds in the intense project schedule and under high pressure. Then, I stayed in the newly created Project Implementation Team and took part in the execution of the strategies we defined in the project. At the beginning of 2013, I was assigned to Shenzhen and was promoted to Business Manager at the same year, responsible for the all-channel business of Shenzhen, Huizhou and Heyuan. I led the team to make sure excellent execution of the company’s trade and retail-environment strategies in actual stores. It was a big change for me to switch the role from an individual contributor to a leader of the team. I fought with the team every day in the field and won quite a few battles. In this period, I started to learn to balance the things and the people that concerned with the business and I believed I have developed my professional maturity quickly, knowing the meaning of setting examples, team spirits and the constant pursuit of excellence. In 2015, I was the national business manager of one of the most important strategic customer RT-Mart, achieving record sales growth by providing better value-added products and services to consumers and shoppers together with our retail partner. Currently I took the role to lead the national customer team, leading the NCT team to improve the 5P execution hand in hand with regional teams in 6 key national customers in order to drive net sales and market share growth. As a Chinese saying goes, “Running water is never stale and a door-hinge is never worm-eaten”, you learn, you make progress and you prosper in Colgate. It would be such a fortune to be a part of this constant-growing company. |

After graduated from South China University of Technology in 2013, I joined Colgate as a Customer Development Trainee, and began my career. After joining Colgate, I had the opportunity to be in different departments, different regions of the rotation, and also had the opportunity to take the lead of Asia projects, besides participated in a variety of courses in communications and training, which ensured my continuous growth and development. In the first three months after on board, I was located in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, stayed in the frontline sales and began to get to know the company's business. While understanding the field sales job, I also accumulated a wealth of actual sales experience and skills, which contributed to the foundation of coming different jobs. After being transferred to the direct trade, I was directly responsible for all direct trade business in Nanchang and as the coordinator of Jiangxi Province direct trade business, during that period leading my team to manage our key customers and business operation. This experience for newly graduated college students is very precious opportunity, which shows the company’s entrusted with my capability and full of both highly attention and trust. By the end of 2014, I was transferred to the Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, and responsible for regional execution work of direct trade, leading sales representative team to manage my business. In the two quarters, I committed all sales target, and maintained the excellent performance of south customer manager. In 2015, at the end of the rotation period of 2 years, I was selected to the marketing department, responsible for toothbrush and mouthwash brands work and supporting both China and Hong Kong market on the corresponding brand projects. In the ongoing challenges and work, I have the opportunity to be responsible for multiple projects, as well as marketing projects of Pan Asia, which greatly expanding my horizons, and also keep continue to improve and grow. I started from the operation analysis in Oral Care Focus Factory and moved to the production planning team from 2006, then was assigned to Assistant planning manager for Personal Care, Home Care and Oral Care at Huangpu plant in 2010. During this period, we successfully implemented a new planning system to ensure commercial team requirement are planned and produced on time and well balanced the service, inventory and manufacturing performance. In 2013, I took a short-term-assignment located in Rome at Europe Personal Care Category Network Planning team with quickly and fully embedded the supplying to Italy, France, Nordics and Benelux and also played a key role in the Sanex source transition project. After that, I was promoted to Operational Effectiveness Manager and then Plant Systems Senior Manager. I was responsible for fully utilizing the systems to support the Controls, SAP, Planning, Data analytics, to improve the plant operational performance, drive competitive advantage of product cost. Now, I’m taking the role of Regional Plant Systems Integration Leader (Asia). Working closely with the plant systems engineers at our Asia manufacturing facilities, co-ordinate and manage the systems roadmap, providing governance and driving standards for the region from an approach of people, process and systems. The focus now is the new Manufacturing Execution System – OPERA implementation in Asia to realize an intelligent and automatic production process management. I joined Colgate in 2007 as a trainee after graduation. When I look back the past 9 years, I am grateful for the career opportunities Colgate offers to me. I started my career as an Engineer in Packaging Department and get increasing responsibility by leading technical projects with bigger scopes. In 2011, I was lucky to take a half year assignment in China Marketing in which I was trusted to lead a high end brand for real business operations. After that, I was back to supply chain to lead a Global Process Launch and Implementation Project in Asia Division for 1 year. I was then moved to production team to lead the operations in toothpaste filling area. The production operational role was quite different versus previous ones, it focuses more on how to better engage and lead the team to operate effectively and efficiently to strive for team goals and building organizational capabilities to cross through future challenges. In 2016, I was promoted to be the Toothpaste Focus Factory Manager, leading one of the biggest and most advanced toothpaste manufacturing factory in the world. I fully believe that one can only grow faster by continue crossing new challenges, I have extended my personal capabilities that are far beyond my initial imagination through this way. 2011年我从武汉大学毕业,并作为客户服务与物流部的培训生加入高露洁。在紧接着的24个月内,我完成了充实而精彩的轮岗计划。这期间,我到了不同的城市,在不同的部门和岗位上,学习和了解公司各个部门的操作和流程。这段经历不仅极大的加深了我对公司整体运营的认识,也让我明白部门间协作的重要性和其中的沟通技巧。 在2013年,我在进出口部门负责中国分公司的部分出口业务。这期间我和来自俄罗斯、欧洲、东南亚等分公司的同事一同协作。全球协助中,我对不同的文化和市场环境有了更加深刻的了解,也极大地提升了自我的视野。 在2014年,我调任到国内全国大客户的客户服务团队。负责全国大客户的物流项目开展与日常支持。这段工作经历,让我在和许多全球零售巨头的沟通合作中,了解到不同的零售商在中国市场中的物流策略和物流系统架构。对我个人的成长和发展有极大的帮助。 这些年来,高露洁陪伴我一路成长,从初出茅庐的应届生到职业人。希望你也能加入这个大家庭,我们共同奋斗和成长。 I graduated from Wuhan University in 2011 and joined Colgate-Palmolive as Customer Service and Logistics trainee. In the upcoming 24-months, I accomplished a fulfilling rotation plan, during which I took different role in different departments and learned how they cooperated with each other. This rotation experience not only deepens my recognition how the various functions at Colgate contribute to achieve Colgate’s strategic priorities, but also make me understand the importance of cross-functional cooperation and communication. I was assigned to export team at 2013. In this year, I work with colleagues from Russia, Europe and Southeast Asia. The global teamwork made me gain intimate knowledge of market diversity as well as widened my field of vision. In 2014, I transferred to National Customer Team – Customer Service. I was mainly in charge of supply chain projects and daily support to National Customers. In this position, I work with global top retailers and learn what their supply chain strategy and structure is. This is a great help to my individual development. Over the years, Colgate accompanied me to my growth, from a fresh graduate to an "vocational person". Hope you will join us. We all learn and grow together. |
2012年7月,我作为财务管培生加入高露洁。在这4年里,我在5个团队、5个国家工作过。在高露洁,我学习,成长,完成了由学生到职业女性的蜕变。 我的高露洁生活开始于总账组。在那6个月内,我熟悉了我们的系统,财务结构,和业务操作流程。 作为我轮岗计划的一部分,在2013年我被调到工厂的成本核算组。在工厂,我有机会了解到我们的生产过程,成本构成和资产管理。这次轮岗让我体验了不同的工作内容,以丰富我的知识储备。同时与厂内其他部门的密切合作,让我了解到工厂的操作是如何成为我们的汇报和分析的数据。 在2014年10月,我得到了去纽约总部供应链财务部的短期外派机会。在这8个月中,我有幸和来自世界各地的优秀人士一起工作,学着从更高的层面来进行供应链财务管理,并且基于我在工厂的经验,也努力为总部贡献我的力量。在那之后,我被派到墨西哥、意大利和马来西亚做项目。这次项目经验不仅拓宽了我的视野,还给予了我第一次带团队的机会,由此促使我在职业生涯的早期阶段开始思考如何建立我的管理风格。 现在我回到了成本核算组担任财务主管。我相信,高露洁是年轻人成长的一流平台。在这里,你有机会参加大量的培训,以及使用各种工具和经理讨论自己的职业发展规划。 我在高露洁找到了自己热爱的事业,我希望你也可以! I joined Colgate as a Finance Trainee in July, 2012. Within these 4 years, I have worked in 5 different teams in 5 countries. In Colgate, I learn, grow and have transformed from a student to an “office lady”. I started my journey in General Accounting Team. Within those 6 months, I got familiar with our systems, financial structure, and general process. As part of my rotation plan, I was transferred to Costing Team in our plant in 2013. There, I had got the chance to learn more about our production process, cost components and assets management. This rotation gave me the chance to do different tasks to build up my knowledge, and also to work closely with the other functions in plant, which allowed me to understand how the plant practice becomes the data we report and analyze. In 2014 October, I got a short term assignment in Global Supply Chain Finance in New York. During those 8 months, I worked with brilliant people all over the world, looked at supply chain finance management from a different point of view, and also contributed as much as I could base on my experience from the plant. After that, I was sent to Mexico, Italy and Malaysia working on projects. It was the first time I led a team, and it was a fantastic opportunity to widen my views. Besides, it made me start thinking about my management style at an early stage of my career. Now I am back in Costing Team as Finance Supervisor. I believe Colgate is a great platform for young people to grow. There are tremendous trainings provided by Colgate, and variety tools to discuss your career development with your manager. During my career in Colgate, company provided various opportunities for my learning and development which help me grow from fresh to a professional HR. It is wonderful working and learning experience in recruitment, commercial & supply chain rotation, compensation & benefits, HR business partner, short term assignment as well as division organization development. While joining Colgate, I started cross functional rotation in recruitment, marketing, customer development and supply chain. What is our market strategy? How sales do the business with customers and distributors? How the products been produced? All your questions will be answered during the rotation. It is valuable for me to rotate in business functions to learn what the business is and how the business runs. After the fruitful rotation, company offered me another challenging chance to work in Compensation & Benefits team. Working on budget planning, salary planning and data analysis not only helps me to build up analytical thinking but also deepens my understanding on organization and business insight. For business need and individual development, I got another fantastic opportunity, 3 months short term assignment in CP India. During the assignment, I had exposure to dynamic business environment which helps me to build up international perspective, learn various HR practices and develop personal leadership. In 2013, I took up the role as an Asst. HR Manager to support Product Supply Chain Functions - China. In this role, I partnered with business in defining and implementing strategic labor objectives and driving critical initiatives to enhance people capability in this global strategic plant. Recently the company offer me another attractive and challenged opportunity, taking the role of Asia Pacific Division organization development manager, responsible for supporting to drive organization development in Asia Division to drive business growth, by collaborating with subsidiaries on the ground and Corporate HR team.
