About the Management Trainee Program

Our Management Trainee Program is an 18-month well-designed elite program with the following aims:

As MT, you are encouraged to participate in designing your own rotation plan. It is estimated that you will take on 5 to 6 rotations across the bank, including but not limited to the CEO Office, Front Office, and Control Functions. This will allow you the maximum exposure to the operations of our business and enable you to get a topline overview from the perspective of the senior management team. In addition to affluent exposure to our range of active projects and in-depth interactions with the various business units, your rotation experience will help you be acquainted with every aspect of the bank, which will surely set you up for a successful career path leading to core leadership positions in our organization.

We expect candidates to get to understand what it means to be a MT and how a MT’s responsibilities differentiate from a common employee’s during the rotation. MTs are also expected to not only excel at your daily works of your rotation departments, but also be able to examine the bank’s business model at a higher level. We value your fresh pairs of eyes and we look forward to hearing your innovative ideas.

After the rotation period, you will start an exciting journey by joining a department that is the best fit. The landing result will be based on the mutual choice between you and your desired department, which will guarantee you the best chance to reach your potentials. As your career develops, you will be involved in management level tasks and decision-making procedures, taking more responsibilities on the bank’s development and tackle the transversal “Run the Bank” and “Change the Bank” tasks in your future career. You will cover the task of finding the subtle balance between business development, risk-taking and resources allocation.

    The Front Office team gathers the following departments:

    Global Markets (MARK),

    Coverage (CORI),

    Trade Finance (TRA),

    Payment and Cash Management (PCM)

    (1) Global Markets

    Global Markets brings together the Equities, Fixed Income & Currencies capabilities with the objective of providing investors with an integrated multi-asset market solution. MT will enroll in a comprehensive program to be trained in areas of sales & trading, supplemented by exposure in other major business lines within the bank. The program looks to equip the MT with solid working knowledge dealing with FX and rates derivatives, either required for a career in trading, if the candidate suits the quality, or for a career in sales (facing corporate or financial institution), if the candidate sees him or herself confident and excited in a client-facing environment. Global Markets is a dynamic workplace with sales working extremely closely with trading (and structuring based out of our Hong Kong office). For a market professional, career is not the best word for it, it is a life we are pursuing.

    (2) Coverage

    Coverage and Investment Banking division offers a global coverage approach focused on strategic dialogue with clients. Building on long-term relationships based on trust, Coverage promotes to clients the whole range of services offered by SGCIB and the Group, with a focus on investment banking and commercial banking activities. Building on a comprehensive coverage set-up and investment banking platform, the teams collaborate in a complementary manner to accompany their clients with the utmost expertise. Depending on your profile, you may follow one of the below career paths:

    Client & Credit Group Analyst

    (3) Trade Finance

    Trade Finance is well positioned to provide clients with a comprehensive range of trade products, mainly including: import/export services, domestic trade services and bond/bank guarantees. Leveraging on Societe Generale’s distinctly strong global network and trade business throughout France, Russia, Eastern Europe, Western/Northern Africa, Trade Finance at Societe Generale plays an important role in “One Belt One Road” and becomes the unique gateway for Chinese businesses to enter these foreign markets.

    (4) Payment & Cash Management

    Payment & Cash Management helps companies improve their treasury management. From both organizational and global perspective, it allows group companies to have better visibility, control and utilization of their cash flows, manages and improves company liquidity, optimizes interest and exchange rates and provides managers with operational and strategic management information. Following the deepening of globalization in modern enterprises, and the development of technology for payments and collections, PCM is becoming one of the core competitive elements for both banks and enterprises operating around the world.

Final year students or recent graduates of Bachelor or Master degree from any disciplines with excellent academic results and following valued merits:
