The NBAC Associate Program is an immersion-based development experience that focuses
on the culture, structure and operations of the NBA, and is designed to produce outstanding NBA
professionals. The program rotates exceptional, recent college graduates through work
assignments in departments across the NBA China. Associates learn the business of sports through
direct exposure, launching their careers in an organization that strives to be the world’s most
successful and respected sports league.
Associates rotate through areas of the business, typically in six month work assignments,
assisting with high priority projects and global initiatives aligned with the company’s
strategic priorities. Assignment areas may include:
- Global Partnerships
- Content Development
- Business Affairs
- Marketing
- Digital/Interactive
- Global Strategy
- Basketball Operations
- Events
At the conclusion of the rotational program, each Associate joins a department as a full
time employee. Placements are based on the NBAC’s business needs, with consideration of the
graduating Associates’ accumulated experience, career goals and performance during the
rotational program.
Required Experience & Knowledge: Candidates must be in excellent academic standing and have
strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese. Additionally,
candidates should possess demonstrable leadership skills through relevant extracurricular
activities, along with meaningful, business-related internship or other experience.
Educational Background Required: Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate
program, anticipate graduation in the spring of 2017(or early December 2016 graduates will also
be considered.)

The Associate program includes a robust curriculum of professional development activities. The
program tips off with an in-depth orientation that builds the foundational skills required for
success in the workplace. Throughout the year, Associates receive additional training to grow
high-value professional skills such as relationship building, business writing and presentation
skills. Associates complete several self-assessments (DiSC, Emotional Intelligence) and receive
strategic coaching that identifies strengths and areas for development.
Associates’ exposure to the business of basketball includes attendance at a variety of NBA
events, participation in our business review process, global experiences, and participation in
discussion forums with executives from a variety of departments.
