With more than a decade of successful growth, China Development Labs (CDL) has become one of the largest MNC development labs in China with over 5,000 top engineers in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Ningbo, Hong Kong and Taipei. Collaborating with IBM’s over 85 labs worldwide, CDL not only is the major software development lab for all middleware development including WebSphere, IM, Tivoli, and Rational and solutions development including Lotus, ECM, Business Analytics and other industry assets development, but also provides software services and support to our Greater China clients and creates service assets for GBS and GTS by leveraging the skills and expertise from the lab. China Emerging Technology Institute (ETI) was established in August 2006 with the goal of encouraging more CDL participation in the global leadership, increasing CDL impact to global business initiatives, and establishing peer relationships with the world wide labs. In recent years, CDL has established Industry Solutions Centers in the areas of Banking, Telecom, Healthcare, Smart City, Insurance, Manufactory, Logistics, Energy & Utility and Retail to build top industry assets and create solution ecosystem. This further strengthens CDL's capability to support Greater China business growth and to become a strong support base for the Growth Markets.

IBM Research - China (CRL) was established in Beijing in September 1995, as one of the twelve, IBM research laboratories worldwide. In October 2008, CRL opened a new research facility in Shanghai to provide local partners greater accessibility to IBM research capabilities. CRL has been growing steadily in the past years, and has become one of the most prestigious and well recognized research institutes in China. CRL conducts advanced research across multiple disciplines, including Computer Science, Human-Centric Computing and Mathematical Science, and currently is focusing on the technology and innovations on Analytics, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things. The driving demands come from its focus in contributing research advancements to IBM Smarter Planet strategy, especially in application domains on Smart Energy & Utilities, Smarter Supply Chain and Smart City. As a pioneering industry research laboratory, CRL has developed innovative technologies through collaborations with other IBM business units, clients, partners, government and universities. In 2008, CRL was awarded the "Supply Chain Academic Excellence" and the "Global Award for Supply Chain Excellence", the most prestigious awards from the Supply-Chain Management Council Going forward, CRL will continue its focus on transforming and advancing the business world with more technology breakthroughs and business model innovations.

作为 IBM 系统与科技部在中国的重要战略部署,IBM 中国系统与科技开发中心承担了 IBM 全部系统硬件和系统软件平台的核心研发工作。在中国,IBM 系统与科技开发中心产品现场支持与基于开发中心的产品服务部门正在为客户提供涉及系统高可用、灾备、节能、高性能计算、数据加密处理、虚拟化与 IT 优化等解决方案的专业服务。其中参与开发了新一代高端存储 DS8800、中端存储 Storwize V7000 和新一代系统管理软件,以及各种磁盘磁带存储阵列、光纤网络存储产品的开发与测试,还负责建立大型主机软件开发团队及 zEnterprise 的开发工作,同时以世界一流的半导体开发力量为全球信息技术产业提供有力的技术支撑,建立智慧网络。
IBM 中国系统与科技开发中心在系统软件(System Software)方面拥有领先的研发能力,软件方面覆盖操作系统层、固件层、跨平台系统管理软件、存储系统管理软件、集成在操作系统里的IBM中间件等。另外在云计算、高性能计算等核心领域同样具有深厚洞见与卓越研发能力。2012年,IBM 在完成对 Platform Computing 的收购后,将其整合进 IBM 系统与科技开发中心体系,以巩固 IBM 在技术运算领域的全面领先性。新成立的 IBM 系统与科技(西安)开发中心将继续在包括高性能计算在内的技术运算领域进行研发,帮助 IBM 加速在“智慧的运算”领域的业务增长。

IBM China Systems and Technology Laboratories
IBM China Systems and Technology Laboratories (CSTL), which was established in 2004, is IBM's Systems and Technology products development and related technology services organization in China. After the phenomenal growth in recent years, we now have more than 2,000 engineers in Shanghai, Beijing, Xi’an and Wuxi. We continue to grow in both our size and the breadth and depth of our skills and knowledge. CSTL with its distinguished technical talents, excellent development and test execution, outstanding customer services and ongoing innovation, has excellent development capabilities in the fields of computer system hardware, system software, and microelectronics and is involved in and responsible for a number of major development projects.
As an essential part of IBM STG strategy in China, CSTL has been involved in the development of many key products and platforms, including System z, Power Systems, System Storage and various of other software products and solutions. In addition to the independent development of Chipset for internal and external clients, we are also contributing to different software development including operating systems, firmware, cross platform system management, storage system management, and IBM middleware that are integrated in operating systems. Moreover, we have deep insights and excellent development capabilities in the critical solutions such as Cloud Computing, HPC and Big Data. In April 2012, IBM CSTL (Xi’an) was established through the acquisition of Platform Computing that helped accelerate IBM’s growth in smarter computing by extending the reach of IBM’s HPC offerings into the high growth segment of technical computing.
In order to provide timely and high quality service to the customers of Greater China Group (GCG), Growth Markets Unit (GMU) and worldwide regions, CSTL established the product service organization to provide on-site support and lab-based service. Now, with the excellent development team and high quality products, this professional team is providing clients with high availability to professional services including high-performance, disaster recovery, energy-saving, HPC, data encryption, IT virtualization and IT optimization solutions.
