♦  Associate Research Scientist, Advanced Materials Research

LOCATION: Shanghai, China

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
●Start with several months training at our research facilities in Germany, where you gain insight into BASF's methods and tools and start to set up your personal network in the R&D community.
●Afterwards you will continue your research activities within our Asian international research teams in Shanghai, China.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
●Lead, motivate and develop a laboratory team.
●Manage and supervise polymer related R&D projects.
●Present and document research results, observe and evaluate scientific trends.
●Transfer new products into the market and thus contribute to the overall business success in close cooperation with our international teams from R&D, marketing, sales and production.

RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:
●Ph.D. candidates in chemistry with focus on polymer chemistry, material science or physical chemistry.
●Research experience abroad is an asset.
●Be comfortable working in an international and interdisciplinary team, be keen to expand your area of expertise.
●Excellent communication skills as well as English in spoken and written form.
●Be a proactive team player, show initiative and creativity.

    PostDoc, BASF Open Research Center NAO


Location: Universities in Shanghai, Dalian or Kyoto

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
●Start the Post-Doc research with a top professor at one of the top Asia universities, which we initiated research collaboration with.
●Work closely with the professor and also a project leader at BASF R&D
●This job offers industrial related research and development of personal competencies and excellent career opportunities in an international company.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
●Work independently on industrial application related research projects and develop new technologies
●Do experimental design and carry out related characterizations
●Project discussion regularly together with professors and BASF scientists
●Submit reports and summaries at desired timeline

RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:
●PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Polymer Chemistry or Physics, graduates recently or already graduated
●Research experience in one of the following areas:
       i) polymer synthesis, living polymerization, as well as knowledge in polymer physics, and polymer characterization
       ii) molecular simulation (e.g. atomistic or coarse grained molecular dynamics) is highly preferred as well as knowledge
       in polymer physics, and polymer characterization
       iii) knowledge on polymer science, and chemical surface modification
●Highly motivated and creative in activities, take initiatives and feel comfortable working in an international team
●Cooperative and responsible, good team player
●The ability to conduct research independently, to identify problems and to resolve
●Excellent communication skills in English will let you convince your project team and your partners
